Ormond Beach Anderson Price Memorial Building
If you're interested in buying real estate in Ormond Beach, please allow me to say "Welcome!" I hope I can help. But for now, please allow me to provide you with some information about this fabulous city, and even Volusia county! I'm a native and would love to help you with your real estate needs.

For all you history buffs out there, here's a great way to spend your Saturday. If you're in or near Ormond Beach Florida this Saturday, April 26, 2008, you may be interested in a lecture at the Anderson-Price Memorial Building at 42 North Beach Street in Ormond Beach. The Anderson-Price Memorial Building is a piece ofOrmond Beach Anderson Price Memorial Building history itself, built in 1916 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally, it was the Ormond Beach Woman's Club in 1891, and also served as the Ormond Library until 1965. In 2002, the building was deeded to the Ormond Beach Historical Trust, but the Woman's Club still has meetings there.

This Saturday there will be a lecture at this fantastic, historical building called "Discover Our History". I was unable to find the lecture time on any of the web sites, so if you're interested in attending the lecture, call 386-677-7005.

This beautiful building also has a museum and hosts wedding receptions, among other things. There is even a wedding chapel.

Office Hours are Tuesday - Thursday 8:30 - 1:30, Saturday 10:00 - 4:00, and closed Sunday and Monday. The Gift Shoppe is open online 24/7.

New Listing: 3/2/2 in Edgewater with pool and much more!

house for sale in Edgewater FL

Coming soon! Buy this beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bath house with 2 car garage! This is my brother's house, located in Edgewater/Florida Shores, which is just a few miles south of New Smyrna Beach. He bought it a few years ago. Even then, it was a rose among thorns. We looked all over the county before he chose this one. There are many upgrades, including an extended parking pad for your boat or RV. An inground, screened pool with spillover spa, a tiki bar and covered lanai are just a few more fabulous features.

The location is the ultimate in convenience if you want an affordable home, with a quick commute to Orlando. It's also close to plenty of shopping, restaurants, banking and it's 5 minutes from I-95.

I'll have more information on Sunday when I go over to take new photos and video footage. You can expect an updated post at that time. For now, if you have any interest in this wonderful home, please call or e-mail me today! It's only $224,500! How can you beat that!?!

Do You Use All the Tools at Your Disposal?

ormond beach condo for sale
Hello, all my fellow REALTORS, mortgage brokers, title companies, home stagers, and all bloggers who are looking for ways to make their blog posts more colorful, refreshing, interesting and/or professional! This post is going to be an open-ended, shared information blog.

There are so many

that it's next to impossible to keep track of them all. And we really don't need to track them all. We just have to decide which ones best meet our own needs and the needs of our clients.

I'm going to start this post with the sites that I personally use, for my own business. Then I'm going to ask that in the comments, you weigh in on the tools I'm using and let me know if you have something that you believe is better. Or just share the sites and tools that you use. This way we can all check out the sites and tools that have been shared, and choose the ones that work best for us.

One more thing. I prefer FREE sites. Free is good! <:o>So if you know of, or use any free sites, please indicate that the sites or tools you're sharing are FREE!

So here we go. My personal web site is hosted through Agent Xsites AKA Alamode. I'm aware that there is a lot of controversy about sites with frames. But we all work with budgets, and choose how to allocate our funds. The benefits and features that come with my site, are included in the packaged price of about $300 per year. That includes hosting! My site also has a blog trees and landscapingincluded, but I don't use it since blogs with frames are not seen by search engines, at all!

Next of all is my real estate video site. My real estate videos are hosted primarily through WellcomeMat. I do have an account with Vimeo also, (I used Vimeo to host my Active Rain contest video) but you'll quickly notice that WellcomeMat is the home base. You can embed your WellcomeMat videos in your blogs, and you can place mini video widgets anywhere you like. There are way too many features to address about WellcomeMat, so I'll let you browse through on your own. But they do have a points system, so if you're feeling generous, leave me a comment, asking me to actually invite you, and I'll do that =)

It's unnecessary, but it goes without saying, that Active Rain is a large part of my online real estate marketing plan. I've received MANY leads through this site! And then there's always the camaraderie.

My HTML listing flyers are created and hosted through Postlets. Every time you see an HTML flyer in one of my blogs, it was created through Postlets. I am using the free version, but they have very affordable plans that will allow you to upload more photos, and attach videos. Here's a blog with a full-size flyer. The previous link held the large-sized widget.

Now for Trulia. All of your listings are probably already there, since most brokerages "push" their listings to Trulia. But have you filled out your personal profile there? I have. You can view my Trulia real estate personal agent profile here. And you should frequently answer questions on Trulia! The customers are asking questions. Theyponce inlet nature trail need answers. Why not help them? You never know. You might just find your next buyer or seller, by helping. Just be sure to read the rules first! No spam or unwarranted soliciting!

And how about Zillow? Regardless of how you feel about the site, your customers are using it. So you should probably at least know as much as they do. And it would be even more in your favor, to fill out your personal Zillow profile as well. Here's me: Lisa Hill's real estate profile on Zillow.

And of course, we can't forget about Twitter! It may not be a way to find new clients, but it is a great way to keep in touch with other helpful real estate agents. Or you can just use it for a little hobby and some fun. And of course, it gives you a great little widget to place on your blogs... just look to the right of this post.

One of the best tools for tracking all your blogs, and meeting new people, and staying in touch with your online friends is MyBlogLog. You've probably seen the widget on the side of a lot of Active Rain blogs. Just look to the right and you'll see mine.

The next tool I'm going to mention was not created from a professional standpoint, but I like the results, so I use it on my blogs. It's a photo presentation called "Rock You". You can change the sizes of the photos, choose your display style, speed, shapes and even add music. This is my entry for the REALTOR LIFE group, photo contest. sunsetRock You has a lot more to offer as well, but I've only used the photo presentations.

Another FANTASTIC tool for generating business is a graph. Adding graphs and charts to your blog posts makes them look much more professional. I use Microsoft Power Point, but I believe Google Apps has a graph/chart tool as well. If anyone is aware of a way to make online graphs or charts, please tell us about it in your comment!

I can think of MANY other items to add, but I'll leave some of these off the list, and let those of you with more experience, provide the details. So last but not least, I'll include all the sites where I add my blog posts.

WordPress, Blogger, Bloglines, ActiveRain.

Oops. I guess those weren't last. I just remembered the web sites that used to be offered through www.planetrealtor.com, before they changed the site name to www.floridarealtors.org. I'm not sure if anyone is using these sites anymore. I wouldn't even know how to access it if I hadn't bookmarked the site years ago! But since I have original link, maybe you can build your site from there, if you want one. You never know if it will come in handy. I know it used to be used as a means of referring in the pre-blogging era.

Addition!: For everyone who's asking about the border and header, click on the button that says "Designed Using the Active Rain Blog Customizer". Pick your colors, or use a full background pattern. You can add your logo to the top as well. But you have to re-size your logo to the proper specifications. You can download a template if you need to and use Photoshop to make any changes =)

Port Orange-Spruce Creek High School, Class of 2008 Honors Banquet

Port Orange Real Estate & Community Event Blog. By Lisa C. Hill, "THE SMART CHOICE!"

Brittany and Rachel
I just got home from the Spruce Creek High School Honors Banquet at the Daytona Beach Ocean Center, for the graduating class of 2008. Why was I at a high school banquet? Well, because my daughter is graduating this year, with honors! =D (She's the redhead on the left)

If you're a real estate buyer who's considering a move to FL, here's some great information you may not be aware of. Florida has a program that enables any graduating student with over a 3.5 GPA (Brittany has a 3.8) to receive a 100% full scholarship to any participating state college, as long as by the time they graduate, they have completed 80 hours of community service and gotten a high enough score on their SAT or ACT exam. It's called the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.

There's also a 2nd chance at this program, if all the criteria has not been met. If the student has a GPA, but only completes 40 hours of community service, and scores slightly lower on the SAT or ACT, they may still qualify for a 75% state college scholarship. Some private colleges accept the Bright Futures Scholarships also. The student can apply for other scholarship monies and/or pay the difference.

One more factor to consider is that the SAT can be re-taken if the score isn't high enough the first time. And it's my understanding that the ACT is easier than the SAT, if the desired results are still not achieved.

But back to the Spruce Creek High School Honors Banquet tonight. The principal of the school, Tim Egnor, said that this year, almost half the class was graduating with honors! That's incredible! Those are some hard-working kids!

Congratulations to the Spruce Creek High School, Class of 2008!

Now just to embarrass my daughter and one of her oldest friends, whose family we sat with tonight, I hope you enjoy the following photos, which I've been collecting for a few years. I did take pity on them and deleted some of the oldest ones. After all, a mother needs something to hold back for future blackmail.

Turtle Day and A Rehabilitated Sea Turtle, Finally Ready for Freedom!

Ponce Inlet Real Estate. Houses, Condos and Reports by Lisa Hill, "THE SMART CHOICE!"

sea turtle
Real estate buyers, sellers and owners in Volusia County, if you're not familiar with the Daytona Beach area, more specifically the town of Ponce Inlet which is just south of Daytona Beach, you may find lots of interesting facts in this post and in the embedded links.

I've previously posted articles about the Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet, FL, and their program for rehabilitating and releasing washback green sea turtles.

Other Ponce Inlet posts included how to Adopt a Sea Turtle Nest to preserve the baby sea turtles during nesting turtle crossing signseasons. In that particular post are links to information on Florida's Vanishing Wetlands, Aquifers and Ecosystem.

I've also written about my childhood memories of the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. There are some breathtaking photos in this one.

I have another post about Ponce Inlet participating in Florida Heritage Month. And of course I have a post of Ponce Inlet real estate.Ponce Inlet lighthouse

But those are all posts about past experiences, events and happenings. This post is even more exciting because this Saturday, April 19, (weather permitting) is Turtle Day 2008!

This Saturday from 10:00-3:00 the Ponce Inlet Marine Science Center will have educational lectures, a live butterfly exhibit, kite flying, children's crafts and hot dogs.

If the weather permits, this Saturday at 3:00 p.m., a 175 pound rehabilitated Loggerhead Sea Turtle by the name of Old Boots will be released at Winter Haven Park. Old Boots has been at the Ponce Inlet Marine Science Center since November. When Old Boots first arrived at the Center, he was suffering from the effects of Red Tide. He was anemic, had low blood sugar, and an intestinal impaction. It took 2 months of tube feeding before Old Boots Marine Science Centerbegan to eat on his own. And that was after treatment with antibiotics, fluid therapy and medications!

The Marine Science Center is located at 100 Lighthouse Drive, Ponce Inlet, FL. There is much more to enjoy at this fantastic environmental learning center. Turtle Day 2008 should be a great day for people of all ages to enjoy. Visit the web site to see the schedule of events, and for regular daily hours. And visit the Ponce Inlet Marine Science Center as often as possible. There's always something to enjoy.

America's Got Talent Winner: Terry Fator, in Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach Real Estate & Community Events Blog. By Lisa C. Hill, "THE SMART CHOICE!"

doll
Did you watch America's Got Talent last season? Do you remember who won? Well I did, and I do! The winner was Terry Fator, the Ventriloquist and Puppeteer, who had an incredible singing voice too.puppet

It was such an awesome finale. Terry Fator just broke down and cried. He was so passionate about what he did. Can you imagine working in an industry that is thought of as being only for children, while desperately wanting to be taken seriously in an adult venue?

Terry's dreams came true when he was voted by all of America, as the 1st place winner by all of America. He is now touring the country with his show.

Now for the really cool part. Terry Fator is going to be performing this Sunday, April 20, 2008 at the Daytona Beach Peabody Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.

To see the Terry Fator show at the Daytona Beach Peabody Auditorium, you can buy tickets through Ticketmaster.

My new bio is posted below. Feedback is welcomed...

Lisa C. Hill is a Daytona Beach native with a background in sales, management, marketing and negotiation. With an energetic & magnetic personality, as well as a large sphere of influence that comes from being a lifetime resident of the Daytona Beach area, real estate was the most natural career progression for Lisa.

But in real estate, bigger is not necessarily better, especially in an industry where trust and friendship are the foundations of success. In fact, statistics show that local brokerages with strong community ties are the most successful. So in early 2007, Lisa made the decision to move to Adams Cameron & Co., REALTORS®, who have consistently remained the #1 real estate brokerage in Volusia county. And once again, Lisa quickly became successful, in an industry that is causing many agents to seek other employment!

Port Orange lesser known facts. Our barn owl and Norfolk Pine tree

owl
Very cool creatures indeed, are the majestic owls who live in the beautiful Countryside Community of Port Orange, FL.

I was recently reading a post by Mike Jones, about the owl and her nest, that was found under an overpass bridge in Tucson, AZ. His story prompted me to write this post.

Let me start by saying, in my back yard is the most beautiful Norfolk Pine tree. I know everyone thinks Florida is supposed to be filled with Palm trees, and we certainly have our fair share, but my favorite tree is the Norfolk Pine. Now regular pine trees I can do without, since most of them end up with a fungus that eventually kills them. But the Norfolk Pine is different. I love the soft feel of the pine needles. And the thickness of the branches, in addition to the enormous height to which it grows, is simply unparalleled.

But back to the barn owls in our neighborhood. One of these fascinating birds lives in our Norfolk Pine tree. I’ve only caught glimpses of him or her at night. But I hear it hooting at many random times.pine tree branch

And our owl is not alone. I’ve seen several in our community. I once had one glide across the road, right in front of me. But my favorite owl encounter was with the one that was sitting on one of the Countryside speed limit signs. The neighborhood speed limit is pretty slow, so I got a full view of this beautiful bird when my headlights hit it. So I backed up and just stared at it. I then pulled up closer, and got right beside it, as it swivelled it’s head all around. It wasn’t the least bit concerned that I was so close. It just kept looking all around and enjoying it’s perch.

I finally pulled away and went home. The bad part about my owl encounter was that I didn’t have my camera with me =( So I have yet to take a picture of one of these majestic creatures. But if you checkout Mike Jones’ post, he has a picture of the owl that was under the bridge in Tucson. I guess we’ll have to settle for that, for now.

Hopefully some day, I’ll be able to get a good photo of one of my winged friends. I’ll start praying for the opportunity right now =)
