Winners of the Daytona 500 - A Look Back in Time

Daytona Beach Real Estate & Community Events Blog. By Lisa C. Hill, "THE SMART CHOICE!"

NASCARSo here I go with another post that's not about real estate. But it is about my home town. Yep. I'm proud to call myself a Daytona Beach native. I'm one of the few! And this is a topic that many people can't get enough of.

But considering we're now a few days past the 2008 Daytona 500 (and Bike Week is fast approaching), this will be the last of my Daytona 500 posts... I think.

So I thought I'd provide you with a list of all the winners of the Daytona 500, since it was moved from the actual beach and A1A, to NASCAR's Daytona Speedway. I actually have a list of how much money was won by each winner, their top speeds and their cars. But since the 500 is now over, I don't want to keep dragging this out... unless you want to hear more. In that case, you'll have to indicate that in the comments =)

So here we go. 50 years of winners of the Daytona 500

Gary- I noticed a few duplicates, but I was actually surprised by the names I hadn't heard before.

WHAT A PERFECT POST FOR YOUR AREA!

Lisa tell me, what is bigger there in Daytona, the Daytona 500 (NASCAR with its risen to popularity) or the Bikers Week?

Katrina- It's hard to say. If I had to guess, I think it's probably NASCAR right now, but the bikers tend to be more loyal to what they like. It's kind of like, once a biker, always a biker. But race fans can get tired of the races.

I guess Richard Petty has the record for the most wins at Daytona? I am a NASCAR neophyte. We have a big presence of race fans in Jersey.

Andrew- I was video taping a condo I have listed yesterday and I when I stepped out onto the balcony, I heard all this commotion from the unit on my right. Then all these obviously drunken guys started talking to me and wanting me to see what they had. So as I swung the video camera around in their direction, they proudly displayed the NASCAR flag they had "obtained" from the race track ;)
