A belated Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. In the U.S., if you're a real estate agent, a mortgage specialist, a real estate attorney, a closing agent, a home inspector, or someone who has anything to do with the real estate industry, you're more than likely experiencing hard times. In light of these difficult economic times, most of us have been cutting back more and more and more; doing everything we can to keep our heads above water. It can be easy to start feeling sorry for yourself; especially if you add health problems to your list of difficulties. But if you stop focusing on your lack of real estate business, or whatever else you feel is holding you back, you just might see that it could be much worse.
Consider the extreme difficulties of our soldiers, people who are starving to death, those who are dying of AIDS (or any life-threatening disease), those who live in countries where they're in constant fear of their lives, the thousands of people who are losing their homes, and the many other extreme difficulties that exist... even if you're one of the people I just described, you can find reasons to be thankful.
We all have good things on which we can choose to focus. So I thought I'd share my short list with you. Then I'd like to see your list. The more difficulty you have in making a list, the more important it is that you do so. Because how you think, is what will determine your attitude, and even your level of success in life.
I'm thankful for...
- My husband (yesterday was our 10th anniversary) =D
- A good marriage
- A wonderful daughter

- The ability for her to attend college
- Her special and unique personality
- My parents and extended family
- My home
- Our vehicles
- Electricity
- Clean water... hot water... cold water
- My church family
- Blue skies
- White fluffy clouds
- Living in Florida
- Frogs (yes, I like frogs)
- Flowers
- Our Queen palm trees and our Foxtail palm tree (I love these trees)
- My neighborhood
- My career
- My husband's job
- My kitty (even though he just cost of a lot of money in vet bills)
- Our ability to pay for those vet bills
- Our computers
- Video games
- MMORPG's (they're online games)
- My blogs (they bring me business)
- My web site (more business)
- The voice God gave me, with the ability to sing
- The ability to write songs
- My friends (both off and online)
- My fluffy pillows and comfy bed
- Air conditioning
- Heat
- Books
- Even though I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and have a lot of pain, it could be a lot worse. So I'm thankful that it's not worse.
- I'm thankful that I'm able to be confident and decisive
- I'm thankful for all of my real estate clients; past, present and future...
Obviously I could go on and on. But you get the idea. When we focus on the good things in our lives, it becomes easier to think of more good things. Even with Fibromyalgia, I can be thankful for the fact that it's not life-threatening or crippling; and even though I've had to give up many things because of it, I still have so many other things for which I can be thankful.
This is only a portion of my year-round Thanksgiving list. What's yours?

Yes, there are many hurting people around the Country, but we do need to focus on what we have been given, not what we are missing!
Lisa - Good thought. We do have a lot of good to focus on....the glass is half full!
Hey, I was getting ready to email you! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and yes we do have so much to be thankful for and in truth I am thankful everyday.
Sweet post! It is so positive! We need these reminders, now and all the time. Great photo too!
Thanks so much for the positive post. This is a great time to reflect on everything you are thankful for.
GREAT LIST to be Thankful for - Great Point - IT COULD BE WORSE!
Thank you for sharing that, Lisa! Though I've never kept one myself, it seems to me this would be a great time to begin a "Gratitude Journal". We all need to remind ourselves every day and in very concrete ways how very much we have to be thankful for....our heath, our loved ones, our wealth of experiences, living in an environment where there IS food in abundance, there ARE hospitals when we need them, we DON"T have to awake to the sounds of gunfire wondering whether we will "hear" the next shot or not. Thanksgiving is not just a 'day of the year'...we should keep it as a way of thinking every day of the year!
Lisa, you put together an AWESOME list there. Thanks for letting us all look at it and many of your items we can relate to in our own individual lives. Gratefulness is definitely one of the keys to our happiness. And from looking at the very long list you have created you are in the land of bliss.
So much to be thankful for and still alot more that wasn't mentioned. GBU ma'am.
Lisa, I think when we start counting our blessings it makes the negatives seem, well not so bad after all.
I am WAY over my limit for 10 comments in a day, sis...
I just wanted to come by and say,
"I love ya!!"
See ya!!
=-)
Hi Lisa,
Happy 10th! You know to me it seems like most of us have lots to be thankful for! For me it's a matter of focusing on the positive side in all things!
Lisa, I love your list and believe very much in focusing on the positive events--which I truly believe bring MORE in. We live in a time that people are finally realizing the law of attraction really works!
What a wonderful list, Lisa! You are soooooo right...we have much to be thankful for. God is faithful and loving. Even those struggling to make it in the world can be thankful for the breath they have been given. Life is precious...but it was never promised to be perfect. I really do believe that the suffering we endure has a purpose that is most of the time difficult to see (at the time). I am even thankful for suffering...because it keeps us humble. GBU~
Hi Lisa - Love your "short" list...and the postiive perspective you bring!
Lisa, such a good post and so well written. I am so grateful for so many things to and it is nice to see others articulating gratitude! Have a wonderful week!
Hey, Lisa.
I generally don't wait for a specific day to give thanks since I try to be thankful throughout the year. In fact, at the end of another successful month, I will share with those less fortunate, such as Special Olympics, Red Cross, ASCPA, Human Rights Campaign, and many more. I've found throughout life that if I'm Pleasant, Polite, Personable, Positive, and Professional, I always have lots to be thankful for each day, each week, each month, each quarter, each year. Of course, I do have to be persistent and consistent in being Pleasant, Polite, Personable, Positive, and Professional. Just one bad day can ruin a week, and one bad week can ruin a month....
Lisa - You are much too young to have a daughter already in college. I'm not saying what I think you are online but I'd say your child wouldn't be more than 6-8 years old - if you didnt say your child is in college.
Loreena- You're my new best friend =D. LOL. j/k I know. I hear that a lot. My daughter looks and acts older than her age, and I look and act younger than my age... will will be 41 in a couple of weeks =/
Congratulations on your anniversary. I also like your positive attitude. We all have many individual battles to be fought, but I believe a positive mental attitude can help solve a great supermajority of them. Russel says "hello."
